Preventative Treatment
Dental Cleanings
Providing care for patients of all ages, we see children and adults regularly for dental cleanings and check-ups. As providers for the whole family, we are often able to schedule a parent and children at the same time for their check-ups. Our skilled, caring hygienists will evaluate the health of your gums and help to remove the hard deposits that cannot be removed by routine at-home care. A thorough dental exam includes an oral cancer screening, instruction on hygiene and diet, and an evaluation of the health of your teeth.
Fluoride
Fluoride application will help remineralize weakened areas of enamel, and prevent the progression of decay. Dr. Zeisler evaluates each patient's risk for dental decay and sensitivity and uses in-office fluoride treatments when indicated. Fluoride is also one of the ways we work to help patients suffering from the effects of xerostomia, or dry-mouth due to decreased saliva flow that can be a side effect of various medications.
Sealants
We offer sealants to help prevent decay of vulnerable teeth. Sealants are a conservative procedure in which we bond resin material to the areas most at risk for decay. When children's permanent molars erupt, sealants are applied to the deep grooves and anatomy of the biting surfaces of the teeth. We offer this service to our patients at check-up visits so that newly erupted teeth can be protected.
Periodontal Treatment
Part of a thorough check-up includes an evaluation of your gum health. Periodontal disease is frequently asymptomatic and is best treated early before teeth exhibit obvious effects. We care about your health, and know that periodontal disease can contribute to other systemic conditions including heart disease and diabetes. Often patients with periodontal issues require local anesthetic to numb the mouth for scaling and root planing, known as a "deep cleaning."
